Players Can Transfer ‘Modern Warfare II’ Gear to ‘Modern Warfare III’

Activision is taking a unique approach with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the latest installment in the highly popular military shooter franchise. Instead of starting anew and having to rebuild their arsenal and cosmetic items, players will now be able to retain almost all of their unlocked content from Modern Warfare II.

This so-called Carry Forward initiative also applies to Call of Duty: Warzone, as the content is shared between the main games and the free-to-play battle royale. Warzone Mobile, due to arrive later this year, will also be integrated into all of this.

Mostly your Unlocked operators, operator skins, bundles, all weapons, attachments and other rewards and cosmetic items will carry over from MW2 to MW3. Also, if you continue leveling weapons in MW2, this progress will be reflected in MW3.

However, this is a one-way street. MW3 progress or unlocks are not copied in MW2. There is no Carry Back feature.

The main things that won’t carry over from the 2022 game to this year’s game are cosmetics for vehicles that aren’t in MW3. War songs, which are songs that can be played on vehicles, also do not transfer. “Some tactical and lethal gear may not be available due to the removal of those items in MW3, which must be replaced with MW3 gear only,” Activision noted in an extensive FAQ.

While MW2 and MW3 are handled by different in-house studios (Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, respectively), you won’t have to jump through hoops to transfer your weapons and cosmetics either. Activision handles everything, but of course you have to use the same account or profile for both games.

Activision will release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III on November 10th. We’ll learn a lot more about the upcoming game at the reveal event on August 17th.

Meanwhile, following the latest trailer for the game, fans are speculating that MW3 will feature an updated take on the highly controversial No Russian mission from the original Modern Warfare II released in 2009. This level was absent from last year’s rebooted version of MW2. .
